Still Rolling with the Punches

Many folks go all-out during the holidays, myself included and treat themselves to all their favorite holiday comfort foods. Afterwards some of us feel compelled to do something to counteract all the indulgence. Instead of just going on the 'ol "New Years Diet", why not try an "Elimination Diet"? This is a form of nutrition therapy that helps you determine what types of foods may actually be a detriment to your health.

By eliminating the foods that are "common" triggers for inflammation or allergies and slowly adding them back into your menu one by one, you can get a pretty good idea of how these foods affect your body and digestion. Dr. Liz Lipski, PhD has put together a wonderfully thorough plan to follow or you may use it as a jumping off place for your own unique self-study.

The elimination-reintroduce system is a wonderful way to get to know your body too. As we get older and our bodies change, so does our digestive system. What may have been a-ok in the past may not sit well now. For all you know, your arthritis flair-ups could be due to dairy, or gluten, or sugar, you never know! Why not find out? While we cannot control everything else happening in the world today, we could take some steps to control how your body feels. To our health!
